Used car supermarket giant Motorpoint will welcome 30 new employees to its ranks when it officially opens the doors to its new retail site at Stockton-On-Tees in December.
The five-acre site on Yarm Road is scheduled to open on December 18 following a multi-million pound investment in the new Teeside facility which has been created through a redevelopment of the former Jennings Ford dealership closed by Loookers in September last year.
Among the new roles now being filled by ID50’s top ranked business by turnover are posts in sales, sales management, customer service and vehicle preparation.
AM reported that Motorpoint was poised for further growth having secured properties for its 14th and 15th dealerships, in Glasgow and Stockton-on-Tees, back in July.
News of the new locations came a month ahead of interim financial results which reported that business at its 13 used car supermarkets had been “comfortably ahead” of 2019 in the period since the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions were eased on June 1.
Commenting on the creation of the new Stockton-on-Tees car supermarket location, general manager Richard Start said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be bringing the Motorpoint brand to Teesside in time for Christmas and look forward, together with the new team, to giving car buyers throughout Stockton-On-Tees and the surrounding area some early festive cheer with our award-winning combination of choice, value and service.”
Motorpoint’s new Teeside location was, in a previous life, a Cooperative Wholesale jam factory for many years.
It its new guise, it will stock up to 500 low mileage, nearly new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV), most of which are under three-years-old and with less than 30,000 miles.
All vehicles will be backed by the Motorpoint Price Promise, meaning that Motorpoint will refund the difference to any customer within seven days of their order if they find the same car cheaper from a competitor. As an added bonus, Motorpoint will also give the customer £50 worth of Amazon vouchers.
Motorpoint has also made contactless collection standard at all of its branches in the wake of COVID-19.
Customers who would like to purchase a vehicle before the new Teeside branch opens will be able to do so via Motorpoint’s dedicated free home delivery service which it launched nationally in March backed by a 14-day money-back guarantee.
Earlier this month Motorpoint claimed that the success of the offering had resulted in its logistics staff driving over 86,000 miles to deliver vehicles.
